Mustang Kiwanis Community Garden
Our History
The Farmers Market started June 13th. We sold
produce, gave garden tours and had a great time!
Farmers Market-2009
We had our first harvest on May 1st. We picked radishes, lettuce, onion
swiss chard and spinach. The harvest was divided between the Kiwanis
food distribution and workers.

Pastor Larry Holder and a group of garden participants asked God's
blessing on the garden on Saturday, April 4th.

Monday, the 22nd, we received seeds from Canadian County's seed allotment,
including radish, turnip, turnip greens, mustard greens, okra, zucchini and
yellow squash. Also three pounds of black-eyed pea, and four pounds blue lake
green bean seed. Don also purchased three pounds of the new super sweet
corn seed and he thinks we will be able to use a mechanized planter to plant
successive plantings of corn, green beans, and maybe okra.

Spring Planting Day - March 14, 2009
Sprint Planting Day was a huge success! We planted rows of potatoes,
lettuce, spinach and onions. More people showed up on Sunday and Monday
to sow seeds for radish, carrots, swiss chard, greens and more! Everyone did
a great job! WALMART presented a $1000 donation to Kiwanis for the garden
on Saturday. Thank you Walmart!
At our November 2009 General Meeting, Micah Anderson and Chis
Kerby from the Dept. of Agriculture answered questions about the
Plasticulture program that we will be participating in the Spring.
